Akshay Kumar born as Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia on September 9th, 1967 is an outstanding Bollywood actor. Akshay Kumar has become one of the hottest heroes in Bollywood with number of hit films to his credit. His good looks, sexy image, excellent martial art skills, and the way he does his death defying stunts in movies have truly made him one of the dare devil action heroes in Bollywood.
Akshay Kumar was born in a middle class family in Jalandhar in Punjab, India. His father was a government worker. Right from his childhood Akshay Kumar was a hyperactive child and was a go-getter. He performed and excelled in whatever he did - be it in studies, dance or sports. He studied at Don Bosco School and then went to Khalsa College where he fell in love with sports. Akshay Kumar studied martial arts in Bangkok and worked as a chef.
Ever since his debut with "Saugandh" in 1991 the wonderful actor Akshay Kumar never looked back and went on give numerous hits. Once the "Khiladi" became the biggest hit in 1992, the 'Khiladi' series - the Indian version of James Bond began and Akshay Kumar hit it off well came to be known as 'Khiladi Star'. The 'Khiladi' series include "Khiladi", "Main Khiladi Tu Anari", "Sabse Bada Khiladi", "Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi", "Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi", "International Khiladi" and finally "Khiladi 420".
Besides being an amazing action hero, Akshay Kumar has displayed his versatility in acting by playing romantic characters in movies like "Yeh Dillagi" and "Dhadkan". His comical performances in films like "Hera Pheri" and "Garam Masala" received all round applause from the general public and the critics as well; while his villainous performance in "Ajnabee" won him the Best Villain Award from Filmfare.
In a career spanning sixteen long years in Bollywood the dazzling actor Akshay Kumar has acted in over seventy five movies, which most of them has been blockbuster hits. The dashing actor is busy shooting his four forthcoming movies that are slated to be released in 2008.
The handsome hero Akshay Kumar had a string of romantic flings with his heroines. He dated sexy Raveena Tandon, Big Brother fame Shilpa Shetty, sizzling Pooja Batra, the ever youthful Rekha and finally ravishing Twinkle Khanna, the daughter of romantic hero Rajesh Khanna and sensuous "Bobby" babe Dimple Kapadia.
Akshay Kumar finally married Twinkle Khanna on January 14th 2001. The couple together has a son called Aarav born on September 15th 2002. In July of 2007, a leading Mumbai tabloid printed a story saying that Akshay Kumar and his wife had fallen out and Kumar had moved out of his home, staying at a hotel instead.
On July 26th, 2007 the angry couple sent a legal notice to the tabloid declaring that the rumor was false. Akshay Kumar said: "The article is a clear representation of careless and irresponsible journalism. The freedom of press comes with responsibilities, which seems to have been put aside to give way to shock value journalism."
