Lionel Andres Messi born on June 24th, 1987 in Rosario in Argentina is an outstanding footballer. Lionel Messi dons the national cap for Argentina. Diego Maradona the legendary Argentine footballer named Lionel Messi as his 'successor'.
Lionel Messi began kicking football since the age of five and played for Grandoli club where his father was a coach. Six years later eleven-year-old Lionel Messi was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency and the cost of the treatment would come around £500 a month, which was beyond the reach of Lionel Messi's finances. Lionel Messi ran the same distance of 62 meters beating the same number of players - six including the goalkeeper; and scored from a similar position just as Maradona did twenty-one years ago. While the whole world of sports hailed Lionel Messi as the next Maradona, the Spanish press labeled him as 'Messidona'.
Spanish press hailed him and predicted saying if Lionel Messi keeps on exploiting his football skills on the ground he would in the long run become the greatest footballer of all time like Pele or Diego Maradona.
