Ronaldinho born as Ronaldo de Assis Moreira on March 21st, 1980 in Porto Alegre is one of the finest Brazilian football player of all time. Accolades, honors and laurels for Ronaldinho have become common phenomena. He was awarded the FIFA World Player of the Year award twice in 2004 and 2005; won the European Footballer of the Year award; and FIFPro World Player of the Year award twice in 2005 and 2006. Yet in all modesty Ronaldinho says, "I don't even feel I'm the best at Barca." In 1999, Ronaldinho slipped into the Brazilian national team and from 80 caps he scored 32 goals for Brazil. Ronaldinho also suffered racial abuse during his football matches.
Ronaldinho is born to Joao, a shipyard worker and a footballer and his wife Miguelina, a nurse. Ronaldinho's father died of heart attack when he [Ronaldinho] was eight years old. Ronaldinho's older brother Roberto was a professional footballer, who now manages Ronaldinho's football career. His sister Deisi works as press coordinator for Ronaldinho. Ronaldinho has a son Joao, named after his father born in February of 2005.
Ronaldinho attracted the attention of the football world at the age of thirteen when he scored all the 23 goals in a 23-0 win against a local team. He soon came to be known as the rising star in the world of football.
His astounding control of the ball and his uncanny ability to create and score goals made him the most sought-after footballer and many premier clubs vied with each other to lure him. Finally Ronaldinho signed with Paris Saint-Germain FC obviously 'with an eye on Parisian night life' rather than for football reasons, complains the manager of Paris Saint-Germain. After Paris Saint-Germain FC failed to click in European competitions Ronaldinho joined FC Barcelona for £21 million in 2003.
Ronaldinho living up to the expectations of his club led FC Barcelona to glorious wins on several occasions. Ronaldinho showed his football wizardry in a Spanish League match by scoring a breathtaking goal. He controlled the oncoming ball with his chest and then with a stunning overhead bicycle kick he sent the ball flying into the net. Ronaldinho later said that was the sort of goal he had been dreaming to score since his childhood.
Ronaldinho made it into the hearts of the children through the comic characters of himself, his brother and his mother. Ronaldinho has also appeared in advertising campaigns like Pepsi, ASPIRE, Nike, Lenovo and several others.
