Samuel Eto'o Fils born on March 10th, 1981 in Douala is a versatile Cameroonian football striker. He was also known as a prolific scorer who creates and scores goals. Samuel Eto'o became the first La Liga player since 1990 to score fifty goals over two seasons during the 2005-06 campaign. Samuel Eto'o dons the national cap for his country Cameroon.
Samuel Eto'o won several awards and honors for his wonderful football skills. He won the FIFPro World XI for 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 and the African Player of the Year award for three consecutive years from 2003-05. He also won the UEFA Team of the Year for two consecutive years from 2005 to 2006 for his excellent skills in playmaking for his teammates to score.
The on-field exploits of Samuel Eto'o was equally matched in contrast by his off-field run-ins with press people and general public. His former agent Daniel Argibeaut too accused Samuel Eto'o of assaulting him and threatening with death sentence. He also had an indirect run in with his teammate Ronaldinho, who felt sad when Samuel Eto'o did not come in as substitute during one of the matches and commented, "[It] always is important to think about what's best for the team", to which Samuel Eto'o retorted, "Telling a news conference I didn't want to play is the behavior of a bad person".
Samuel Eto'o made his FC Barcelona debut in August 2004 with an amazing 5 goals in the first half itself against Racing Santander. Continuing in his fine form, the following year Samuel Eto'o spurred FC Barcelona to their second consecutive Spanish crown.
In October 2007 Samuel Eto'o acquired Spanish citizenship, which facilitates FC Barcelona to no longer give up an extra-communitarian spot in order for Eto'o to appear in the squad.
Samuel Eto'o suffered racial abuse in some of the away matches. Being an emotional person, Samuel Eto'o could not take the racist slurs lying down and at times he threatened to leave the pitch. He also hates to bring his family members for fear of subjecting them to the same racial abuse. He said, "At this moment in time I prefer my children don't go to football matches. In the stands they have to listen to things that are difficult to explain to a child. It is better they aren't exposed to it."
