Shah Rukh Khan born on November 2nd, 1965 in Gurgaon, Haryana is one of the greatest actors in Bollywood. He won numerous major awards of which include 9 Filmfare Awards for his wonderful performances in several movies. Shah Rukh Khan has also been chosen for the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres [Order of the Arts and Literature] award of the French government for his "exceptional career".
Shah Rukh Khan was born to Taj Mohammed Khan, a freedom fighter who participated in the Indian Freedom struggle, and mother Lateef Fatima. Shah Rukh Khan acquired his Masters Degree in Mass Communications from Jamia Millia Islamia University. While in school Shah Rukh Khan excelled in studies, sports and drama. Shah Rukh Khan learnt the basics in acting under renowned Theatre Director Barry John at Delhi's Theatre Action Group. Shah Rukh Khan married Gauri Khan according to Hindu wedding rites. They together have a son named Aryan born in 1977 and daughter Suhana born in 2000.
Shah Rukh Khan began his movie debut with "Deewana" in 1992 and his intense performance in the movie won him the Best Debut Award from Filmfare. The amazing actor Shah Rukh Khan then never looked back and went on to deliver critically acclaimed performances in movies like "Devdas", "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham", "Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge", "Don", "Darr" and several other movies that he acted in have become the biggest blockbuster hits.
Prior to his film debut, Shah Rukh Khan had a brief romance with television. He appeared in serials like "Fauji", "In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones" and "Circus". Shah Rukh Khan also appeared in scores of television commercials endorsing the products and brands. In 2000 Shah Rukh Khan diversified into film production and hosting of television shows like "Kaun Banega Crorepati" on Star Plus channel.
There was a two-part documentary series shot on Shah Rukh Khan titled, 'The Inner and Outer World of Shah Rukh Khan', which delves into the life and times of Shah Rukh Khan. There were also two books on him written by renowned authors. One released in 2006 was called 'Still Reading Khan' and the other released in 2007 was called 'King of Bollywood "Shah Rukh Khan" and the seductive world of Indian cinema'.
