Steven George Gerrard popularly known as Steven Gerrard born May 30th, 1980 in Whiston, Merseyside is an outstanding English football player. Steven Gerrard is an excellent midfielder and is famous for his long-range shots and defense-breaching passes. He also doubles as a second striker. Steven Gerrard is the captain of Liverpool and the vice captain of England.
Steven Gerrard has won several honors and accolades for his amazing football talents. He won UEFA Champions' League Most Valuable Player twice in 2004 and 2005; PFA Player of the Year in 2006; and the most prestigious Member of the Order of the British Empire [MBE] in 2007.
Steven Gerrard began playing football since the age of eight. Steven Gerrard joined Liverpool in 1997 on a weekly pay of £700. In the beginning of his career with Liverpool Steven Gerrard suffered from physical ailments caused by the accelerated three inch growth of height in one year. He had back and groin problems that required several surgeries to correct the problem. Thanks to Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier who nursed him through until he was fit.
It was in 2000-01; Steven Gerrard putting behind his physical problems plunged headlong into games. Playing with vengeance Steven Gerrard scored 10 goals from 50 appearances and inspired Liverpool in winning FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Cup and Community Shield Cup and European Super Cup.
At the end of the season Steven Gerrard was honored with the PFA Young Player of the Year Award. Continuing his amazing streak of successes Steven Gerrard led Liverpool from the front in several of the battles to glorious successes winning League Cup again in 2002-03, UEFA Champions League in 2004-05, FA Cup in 2005-06 and finished runner up in FIFA Club World Championship in 2005, UEFA Champions League in 2006-07.
Steven Gerrard, the magnificent footballer renewed his contract with Liverpool and is reportedly drawing a sum of £120,000 pound a week making him the highest paid British Footballer. Steven Gerrard married Alex Curran at Cliveden on June 16th, 2007. They together have two daughters named Lilly-Ella Gerrard born in February of 2004 and Lexie Gerrard born in May of 2006.
Steven Gerrard has published his autobiography titled Gerrard: My Autobiography. Steven Gerrard stated in his book that he is longing for small mercies from Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez. He said that his ambition is to get a small 'Well Done' pat from the Liverpool manager before he retires from the game of football.
